Common Dux faults in Hobart homes
Leaking stainless weld seam
Stainless tanks rarely rust through, but a failed weld seam is not repairable and shows as a persistent damp patch under the unit.
Thermostat drift on Proflo tanks
Water that has become noticeably hotter or cooler without anyone touching it usually means the thermostat is out of calibration rather than an element fault.
Condensate drain blockages
Airoheat units installed outdoors accumulate leaf litter in the condensate line — a two-minute homeowner check that prevents pooling around the base.
When replacing beats repairing
A stainless Dux with a sound cylinder is worth repairing well past ten years. An Airoheat needing compressor or refrigerant work out of warranty is usually better replaced.
