Fresh installs, done properly.
Renovations, new builds and system changes. Neat pipework, compliant termination, full commissioning — carried out by qualified local pros.

Installed for the way you actually live.
Sizing, placement and system type matter. Each install is designed around the household — not around a stock quote.
A hot water install is one of those jobs where the invisible details — pipe sizing, isolation valves, drainage, termination heights — are the ones that decide whether you're calling anyone back in twelve months.
Continuous flow units suit homes retiring an outdoor storage tank to reclaim space. Heat pumps suit families wanting to slash running costs. Electric storage suits the many homes where it's simply the right, low-fuss answer. We'll talk you through which fits your situation.
Every install is fully commissioned and left with the paperwork you need for warranty and any applicable rebates.
If you are still choosing a system, the Hobart replacement cost guide covers what changes the price, and the hot water FAQ hub answers the warranty, rebate and licensing questions we get asked most. Already have a failing unit? Read repair or replace before committing to a new install.

How an install day actually runs.
Nothing about a hot water install should be a surprise. This is the shape of a typical job.
- 1
Confirm the scope
Position, system type, and anything that has to change to make the install compliant.
- 2
Isolate and remove
Water off, power or gas isolated, old unit disconnected and taken away.
- 3
Install and connect
Mounting or base, water connections, relief-valve drainage, then electrical or gas by the appropriate licensed trade.
- 4
Commission and hand over
Filled, tested, temperature checked, area cleaned, paperwork left with you.
- Typical duration
- A few hours for a straightforward install; longer for a system change.
- Water off
- Only for part of the day, and only while connections are made.
- Licensing
- Gas and electrical work is carried out by the appropriate licensed trade.
- New builds
- Sequenced to the site program — rough-in, then fit-off and commissioning.
Gas or electric, if you have the choice.
Most installs come down to what's available at the property. Where both are, this is how they compare.
| Gas storage | Electric storage | |
|---|---|---|
| Availability | Needs natural gas at the property or LPG bottles | Works anywhere with a suitable circuit |
| Recovery | Reheats quickly after heavy use | Slower recovery, especially on off-peak |
| Running cost | Usually lower than electric on standard tariffs | Lower again on a dedicated off-peak tariff |
| Install work | Gas connection, flueing and clearances apply | Simplest like-for-like swap in most homes |
| Upfront cost | Generally higher than basic electric storage | Typically the lowest upfront option |
Also worth comparing: heat pump, continuous flow and solar hot water. If you already know the brand you want, the learning centre has brand-by-brand detail.

Hot water installation questions.
Can you install a system I have already bought?
+
Yes. We can install a supplied unit, though we will check it suits the site and the household first. Where we supply the unit as well, the install and the product sit with one team, which makes any later warranty work simpler.
What is included in a hot water installation?
+
Removal and disposal of the old unit where applicable, mounting or base preparation, water connections and isolation, compliant relief-valve drainage and termination, electrical or gas connection by the appropriate licensed trade, and full commissioning before we leave.
Do I get paperwork for warranty and rebates?
+
Yes. Every install is left with the compliance and invoice documentation you need for the manufacturer warranty and for any rebate or certificate scheme the system is eligible for.
Can the new system go somewhere different?
+
Often, yes. Relocating a unit — for example moving an outdoor storage tank and fitting a wall-mounted continuous flow unit instead — is common during renovations. It adds pipework and sometimes electrical or gas work, which we cover in the quote.
How much disruption should I expect on the day?
+
Water is off for part of the install, and power or gas to the unit is isolated while it is connected. Most of the work happens at the unit itself, so the rest of the house stays usable.
Do you coordinate with builders on a new build?
+
Yes. On new builds and renovations the hot water install has to land at the right point in the sequence — rough-in, then fit-off and commissioning — and we work to the site program rather than turning up cold.
Replacing rather than installing new? See hot water replacement, or if the old unit has failed today, emergency hot water.
