Before help arrives
Three things worth doing now.
Turn off the water
Find the isolation valve on the cold inlet at the top of the tank and close it. If in doubt, shut off the mains at the meter.
Turn off the power / gas
Switch off the dedicated hot water circuit at the switchboard, or close the gas isolation valve at the unit.
Move what matters
If it's leaking indoors, move anything valuable clear of the water and put down towels.
